At any time during our lives, we may lose too much hard tooth tissue in some of our teeth, and a filling is no longer sufficient in such a case. This is the perfect opportunity to use the dental crown!
With a dental crown, you may imagine a kind of “sheath” shell that covers the ground tooth and makes it beautiful and new again. The fitting of a dental crown is usually divided into two sessions. The most important is our first session together, where you will have your teeth ground. But you don’t have to worry about it. The entire treatment is performed after the application of local anaesthesia. Grinding a tooth is similar to having your tooth drilled, when you have caries. We do our best to ensure our patients feel safe and, as far as possible, stress-free when they come to us. Therefore, the application of local anaesthesia is essential. The dentist grinds the tooth a few millimetres on each side. It is a longer process, but it is crucial in the creation of a dental crown. After thorough grinding, impressions are made with a special material.
And now comes the best part! After the second session you will have your beautiful smile again. All that’s left is to choose the right colour of the crown. When choosing the right colour of the crown, it is important that it matches the colour of your teeth. The finished crown must be tested properly before it is fully fitted on the ground tooth. If everything fits perfectly, only a small amount of fixing material is applied to the crown, it’s placed on the tooth and it’s done! Your smile is as good as new.
What a dental crown is made of depends in most cases on the price. There are several materials available.
If you don’t take care of your teeth properly, you can lose not only just your healthy teeth, but your dental crown as well. It may happen that it will start to wobble, in which case definitely do not delay your visit to our clinic! It is necessary for the dentist to remove the crown and reapply it, but only after the area has been thoroughly cleaned. If you delay your visit to the dentist, bacteria can get underneath and destroy the healthy tooth underneath the crown.
